The Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, known as ‘GLSEN®’ (pronounced “glisten”, the way pre-cum does on the tip of your morning wood) will once again silence LGBTQ students in schools all across the country with its trademarked “Day Of Silence®.” on April 27, 2018.
Building on its almost twenty year success at silencing gay youth, this year GLSEN® is expanding on the premise. Going forward “The GLSEN® Day Of Silence®” will now be known as “Shut Up, Faggot!”
Stick A Dick In It & Shut The Fuck Up!
There was of course some controversy over the new name and some alternatives were “Whimper Behind the Wardrobe” and “Cower in the Cupboard” and “Closets Are For Queers!” However, gay leaders remained silent on the issue so “Shut Up, Faggot!” was determined to be the most on message.
The website states, “folks take a vow of silence to highlight the silencing and erasure of LGBTQ people.” So it follows that being silent is a way to speak out.
“Being silent highlights that you are being silenced much like punching yourself in the teeth highlights that someone is punching you in the teeth,” says a SUFAG® organizer. “Better to punch your own teeth before someone else does.”
Also there is a gift shop.
GLSEN® Day Of Shut Up Faggot
T-shirts touting helpful GLSEN® self admonitions like “Silence Unites” and “Silence is Ours” will be joined with new slogans like “Be Quiet, You Queer,” “Homos Hide,” and “We’re Here, We’re Queer, We’re Sorry.”
The gift shop already sports a sexy temporary tattoo of an X to put over your lips. It speaks loudly to the new incarnation of the event. It says, Don’t read my lips, I’ll just shut the fuck up.
UPDATE: There has been a quiet outcry among women and the trans community that the term ‘Faggot’ doesn’t represent them or their desire to also be quiet. The organizers told them to shut the fuck up, and they did.
